Asian Games 2026 – ANOTHER VIEW

ANOTHER VIEW

As a new challenge awaits the organisers of Asian Games 2026 – which will be held in Aichi-Nagoya next month during peak typhoon season – they have found a unique solution: a luxury cruise ship docked at Nagoya Port will become a ‘floating’ Athletes’ Village to house nearly one-third of the total 15,000 athletes and officials. This will have all the usual facilities that the athletes enjoy in a Games Village, including dining halls and gymnasiums, while the athletes will soak in breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

The Aichi-Nagoya Organising Committee (AINAGOC) is preparing a contingency plan to evacuate athletes in case of tsunami, typhoons and other natural disasters. The team has already informed delegations of the 45 participating nations about the emergency evacuation and temporary accommodation plans, the organising committee of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) told The Indian Express.

CANON RECONFIRMS COMMITMENT TO SERVING MAJOR EVENTS

In order to ensure the success of the Games, AINAGOC has created a Master Plan for the 2026 Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya. This document identifies all the elements necessary for the successful operation of the Games, as well as a rough preparation schedule. It has been revised several times and is expected to continue to be updated until the opening ceremony. The 2026 edition of the Asian Games will feature 41 sports, including esports. In addition to a variety of sports, the Games will showcase Japan’s cultural and historical background.
