Asian Games 2026

The Asian Games are the biggest multi-sport event in Asia, a tradition that began in 1951 in New Delhi, shortly after World War II. It was aimed to strengthen the bonds between Asian countries, and contribute to everlasting peace in the continent.

It is a competition between athletes from 45 countries and regions affiliated with the Olympic Council of Asia, with 32 sports and disciplines on offer. Unlike the Olympics, which only allow member national Olympic committees to send competitors, all 45 members of the OCA are eligible to participate in the Asian Games. The 2026 Games are set to take place from 19 September to 4 October next year, with the capital of Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan as the main host city.

The Organising Committee is working hard to provide a comfortable experience for visitors. Shuttle buses between competition venues and the nearest public transport stations will be provided if necessary, and measures to curb private cars in the area will also be considered in order to ensure smooth transportation and maintain urban order during the Games.

‘ONE ASIA’, the theme for Asian Games 2026, aims to bring together people from all across Asia – from 45 different countries and regions, with a wide variety of languages, cultures and religions – to embrace the power of sports in the spirit of friendship, peace and unity. It is our hope that visitors to Aichi-Nagoya will enjoy the warmth of the people of Aichi, including the hospitality that makes use of its rich history as the home of many warlords in the Sengoku period and its unique local food culture, as they watch a variety of sports and events at the Games.
