The US Open is famous for upsets, thrilling matches that run late into the night, and a tournament site that’s almost as iconic as its players. The 2025 edition is even more interesting than usual, with the main tournament expanding to 15 days for the first time and a Sunday start for the first time in Open history.
The schedule also includes a three-day first round (Sunday through Tuesday) and a 10-point match tie break in place of a third set in all other matches. A number of new facilities are opening for this year’s edition at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, including a modern mezzanine, upgraded facilities, and an expanded entrance.
Tip #5: Be sure to check the US Open app or website for a detailed daily Schedule of Play and court map before heading out each day. Also, make it a point to watch the practice courts before you head to the stadiums — this is your best chance to see the stars without fighting crowds.
Be sure to get to the grounds early on Thursday of the second week for free Community Day, which offers grounds access and some doubles matches. This is a great opportunity to see some of the top juniors and wheelchair players in action, as well as some incredible collegiate players who will one day be playing in Ashe Stadium alongside the legends. For those who already have tickets for specific sessions, it’s also a good idea to use the ticket check upon entering to confirm that they are valid (this is done when you enter Ashe or Armstrong Stadium or any other stadium). This will help avoid a delay at security.
